Layla Joann O'Reilly Tallant was born at 12.34 in the afternoon, on 28th August 2007. She weighed 6lbs and was 51cms in length. She is our first baby girl.
When I found out I was pregnant, I never dreamed that this could be a possible outcome. Every thought went through my head, every thought that is - apart from never hearing my baby cry or laugh.
We couldn't believe such a thing could happen with only 2 days to go. Words can never explain the heartache that ripped through both of us at that moment. We were prepared for such a surprise when driving to the hospital but this situation had never crossed either of our minds.
After quite a short labour our precious princess was born at 12.34 in the afternoon, 28th August 2007. Straight away we named her Layla and gave her a middle name of Joann - after both her Nannies - Joan & Ann. She was the most beautiful angelic vision we had ever set our eyes upon and immediatley I noticed how many of her Dad's features she had.
On Thursday August 30th (Layla's Due Date) her Dad and I, along with Nannies, Grandads, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Great grangparents and friends laid our beautiful daughter to rest in her own bed in a local cemetry to sleep between the Mountains and the ocean.
We are blessed and privilaged to have been graced with the presence of such a beautiful little girl growing inside me for nine months. The sensation of her kicking will forever be carved in my memory as a reminder of her short life. There may not be any bottles to make, or nappies to change or tears to wipe away but the memories that we do have will be held so presiously until we join you in the arms of the angels.
Thank you Layla for the best nine months and for the joy of holding you in our arms. We are all so thankful that you got your snugs, kisses & cuddles from all who love you so very much.
